I call my true ramblings unapologetic and raw. Others may call it transparent. God calls it a testimony. Whatever label one chooses to put on these facts, God Be the glory.
When you are a public figure, a person called by God, it is essential that we live a life that is pleasing to God. This is a time when preachers should be real and forthcoming.
Scripture states, “blessed are those who keep their testimony.” The world needs to know that God is still a miracle working God. God is a sustainer; God is a healer and a Deliverer.
God is my everything. If God gives you an assignment, He will equip you with what you need to complete your assignment. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, Hebrew 11:16. When we put God first, He will take care of us. As David said in Psalms, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and not lean to my understanding. Always acknowledge Him, and He will direct our paths. When I tell you God will do just what He said, believe me. God has cared for me time and time again. As a child, I was pulled from my grandmother’s burning house. He saved me for His glory. Every time I go to the hospital, they ask me if I have ever smoked. I always say no; they remind me that I have “restrictive airway disease”
My lungs collapse easily. For years, I have heard that my lungs are weak. As I sit here giving my testimony to help someone else this morning, God reminded me that my sister Evelynn pulled me from a fire when the firemen had told my family that I was probably dead. It was a miracle; God saved me for His glory. He knew that I would be a good soldier one day. Sitting here this morning, I am thankful that God gave me another chance to be better. I was only 4 years old, but God knew He could use me. God gave me an assignment as chaplain; I vowed to be faithful. God knows what we need even when we do not understand. He goes before us. He said that we should delight ourselves in Him, and He would give us the desires of our hearts. He has done that for me time and time again. When I was young in church, I remember a song was sung, titled, “You don’t know how I feel. The people look at the outer appearance, but God looks at the ❤️” God carried me 6 days as He was with Job, He with me.
Doctors can not believe how I carried second – and third-degree burns without pain medicine for 5 days. God did it. God is fire! If He took care of the boys in the fiery furnace, He could take care of me to fulfill His purpose, not mine.
The day I was supposed to speak, Satan said, “You can not get up there; you will pass out.” God said you can do it. As I sat before the people, I felt as though I would pass out. This time, I leaned over to my Co-Chaplain and said, “I do not think I can do it.” Would you please do the Juridiction and the Grand Chapter? She did not hesitate; she said yes, I will.
But when my name was called, Jesus said, “I said prepare me a body, I will do the rest.” When I knew anything, Grandmaster was thanking me, and people were clapping and standing. If you put God first, if you lean on Him, He will not let you fall.
People God is still God. He is still seeing about His children. If you do not know Him as your Savior, ask Him to be your God, live knowing that one day you will gain eternal life.
I was told that I would have to be admitted into the burn unit at Shands and have skin graphs, etc. But God!!!!
God said, “Send your husband in the yard, get aloe, grind it in the blender, and place it over the burn.” My husband fought me tooth and nail. I had to tell Him God said it is not getting better; it is getting worse because you are allergic to the cream they gave you to treat the burn. Again, my husband insisted that I not use the Aloe plant, but I should stick with the cream. God said, “You tell him to go get a wash cloth wet it in warm water and wash that cream off you.”
Reluctantly, he eventually did it. While I was cleaning the cream off, he was telling me you should not put that water on there; you need sterile water. I silently kept calling the name of Jesus and wiping the cream away. I say that to say this, “Know the voice of God, Know His Son Jesus for yourself. Man means well, but God knows all things. Back to my point. I did just as Jesus said. I put fresh aloe all over the burn. My daughter and my niece, one in Alabama, One in Virginia, were on the phone pleading with me to go to the ER. I said if it is not better in 24 hours, I will go. I think the cream is making it worse. My house phone rings. This was my other niece who works in surgeries every day. They were all in a panic, begging me to go to the hospital; they did not understand the Specialist, The Surgeon, the Healer was already with me, and He had spoken. When I said I was not going unless it was not better the next day, I could feel the aloe drawing my flesh. Soon, my husband rushes in with the paramedics. The girls had called the paramedics from Virginia and sent them to get me. I went to show them who my daddy is.
When I arrived at the ER, they swarmed me, and one Doctor looked, another Doctor looked at the wound. The second one said, ” she has second and third degree burns, but look at this up here. She is having an allergic reaction to the Sulfadiazine.” The started IVs gave me solumedrol and Benedryl. My husband was telling me to take what the doctor gave me, but Jesus was saying get it off you.
For all of you, you either trust God in faith and prayer or do not pray at all. I chose to listen to the voice of the Lord. Had I listened in obedience to my husband (man), I would not be here. But Goddd!!
When they got me to Shands, they gave me meds, and before I knew it, I was awake with a covering and a hospital made bra. I am home. I am alert, and the fire from my chest is gone. I claim my healing; I proclaim the name of Jesus throughout the world. Know God, Know Peace, No God, No peace. Pray for me and with me that I always trust God and do not lean on my or man’s understanding. I hope my testimony will bring faith to someone. God is real, people. I am healed by the wounds in my Saviors’ side.
I may not have crossed every (T) or dotted every (i) with my faith walk, but please take heed to the message God has for you today. Know your body and listen when God speaks to you.
